Non of your "WOKE" brigade back then. If there was a VETS programme on you did not need a warning before hand to tell you there would be veterinary procedures. Or warnings before a comedy or non ethnics in Mid Summer murders. The only TV censor was Mary (shit)Whit house who would pre view a programme and then say if it was suitable for the public to watch

It was even better in the swinging sixties!

Former cinema's becoming caberet clubs with top class artists, local clubs with good entertainment at weekends, cinema's having top pop stars from both here and the USA appearing, lots of pubs full of atmosphere, dance halls packed and everything including the drink at affordable prices!

Even football supporters enjoying a game without segregation!

Now all about staying in to watch television with a four pack or a bottle of wine and perhaps a weekend visit to a Weatherspoons!

I was only thinking about this sort of stuff yesterday, and the internet is full of historical websites, such as Wigan World and Facebook in particular has umpteen groups about Wigan history and nostalgia, which when you get into your later years, you can wallow in the pictures and films of 40, 50, 60 + yeas ago, and your memories come flooding back.

BUT

It is not just the good memories which come back, for me it brings back some bloody bad memories, and sometimes I think I spend to much time in the past, when really I should be looking to the future, because the history has already happened.

"The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it

In other words yoo can't do anything about what has already happened in the past, but yoo can do something about what is going to happen in the future, so I am not going to keep on wallowing in the past

There is a lot of wisdom in your soap box speech Tommy Tee but, I like many others miss the better controlled kids of yester year , the less crowded roads, the friendly communities and the ' help thy nieghbour' attitude that has died,

Aw, Tonker, ya've gone and pinched me idea for me next thread that I was working on, ya lickle tinker Tonker.

Ne' mind. Loved the video. I liked Mister Ed, Champion the Wonder Horse, Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, Catweazle, The Human Jungle and Z-Cars. I know some of those were in the 60s but, as I lived in Germany during part of the 70s, I can only contribute what I can remember from then, but I'll add to this further.

Tom, I haven't had a telly for 15 years now, but the series you've named are all on You Tube.

Well, the screen I watch on isn't small. It's a 36" (ish) monitor. I don't understand folk who watch programmes on their mobiles or iPads. That would drive me bonkers.

Back to programmes.

I remember old TV series which I haven’t seen for years so, if available, I find them on You Tube.

So far I’ve watched all episodes from the 70s/80s of Quincy, and a few old British sitcoms, but I recently re-discovered London’s Burning; and I found the American series, Diagnosis Murder, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Jake & The Fatman and Trapper John MD, which I’d never seen before, and they’re great. Well, at least they keep me quiet!

I like to watch the old Columbo programs, They are played every Sunday on channel 46 ( I think) but the only thing is, They always show the same ones, He must have done hundreds if not farsands but, they only play the same ole ones and its the same with, the Beverly Hill billies, they made lots and only a few get shown again, It must be a ' rights to publish' thing,,

That's right, Tom. It's the same on You Tube. They have to own the rights to the programme otherwise they're infringing copyright and, if they're uploaded anyway, You Tube remove them.

Columbo isn't shown on there for that very reason. Same with lots of films and serials, and some films are 70 years old, but still get removed.

I've also noticed they have put adverts on some of my videos, I've never moneyitized them and When I've challenged them, they've said, It maybe your showing a labelled product or mentioning an item thats marketed and its in the terms and conditions that, they can do as they like So, I'm in a mine field with heavy boots and a blindfold,,
